The fourth and final novel by Dr. Hart, this is about a retired doctor (Dr. Finlay) who returns to his small home town in the Pacific Northwest where he works to rebuild the local hospital using socialized, cooperative medicine. This happens during the depression on highlights corruption in the medical field as well as dishonest groups with the American Medical Association (not much has changed there).
This book has a copyright notice of 1942. I have not researched if the copyright was renewed at the 28 year window which would keep it out of the public domain. It will go into the public domain in January 2037, even if it is not now. At that point I will not add a copy of it here, but if I do the research to confirm that it is in the public domain, I will. However, Oregon Health and Science University has a digital copy.
