Description

In the Lives of Men is Alan Hart's third novel. Based in the fictional town of Fairharbor, which represents Tacoma, Washington. This book spans from 1892 up to 1909, which is Dr. Hart's Childhood. It covers many significant events for the Pacific Northwest including the Panic of 1893, the Chinese Expulsion, the Spanish America War, the Klondike Gold Rush, and the Labor Wars in the timber camps. This book can serve as a great representation to this time period, as well as a great fictional journey into the life of a doctor who doesn't really fit in.

This book has a copyright notice of 1937. I have not researched if the copyright was renewed at the 28 year window which would keep it out of the public domain. It will go into the public domain in January 2032, even if it is not now. At that point I will not add a copy of it here, but if I do the research to confirm that it is in the public domain, I will. However, Oregon Health and Science University has a digital copy.
