This was Dr. Hart's first fiction novel. Published in 1935 it follows the journey of a young doctor who deals with social pressure in a small logging town in Oregon. Set in WWI and the depression Doctor Mallory is a great story that gives us insight, not only into the time period, but the struggles of those who have struggled through social adversity.
